PANO – An artistic program, entitled “Dong Loc T-junction: An immortal epic” was held on the evening of July 23rd at the Dong Loc T-junction historical relic site by the People’s Committee of Ha Tinh province, as part of activities to celebrate 45 years of the victory of Dong Loc.
Various well-known singers performed songs in praise of magnanimous time at Dong Loc T-junction, as well as the current generations’ gratitude to heroes and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for national independence.
In June 1968, the Dong Loc T-junction in Ha Tinh province was the site of a fierce battle. This place was bombed heavily over 200 times a day by US aircraft. However, with the combined strength of troops, volunteer youth, militia and youth union, our troops and people shot down a number of US aircraft, successfully ensuring safety for reinforcements to Southern Vietnam.
At the program, presents were handed over to some policy beneficiaries and relatives of 10 female volunteer youth heroes-martyrs.
Earlier, the Central Committee of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and the People’s Committee of Ha Tinh Province organized a mass requiem paying tribute to martyrs and heroes, and wishing for prosperity and peace for the nation and people at the relic site, with the participation of a number of veterans, tourists and local people.
Other activities in celebration of this victory included a youth camping festival and a get-together for former volunteer youth.
