(VEN) – Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) attraction in Bac Giang Province since the beginning of this year has recorded strong growth in terms of registered and disbursement capital. In particular, in the first six months of this year, newly registered capital increased by 275 percent compared to the same period last year.
Attracting foreign investors
According to Bac Giang Department of Planning and Investment’s data, in the first six months of this year, the province attracted 15 FDI projects with total registered capital of US$41.16 million, an increase of 275 percent compared to the same period last year.
FDI disbursement in the first six months of this year in the province totaled US$65 million, an increase of 39 percent compared to the same period last year, contributing to confirming significant changes in FDI attraction in Bac Giang.
Among 15 new FDI projects, Bac Giang Province has two projects in the construction sector, one project in the retail and distribution sector and 12 projects in industrial processing and manufacturing. The Republic of Korea (RoK)’s investors had nine FDI projects in the first six months of this year with total investment capital of US$9.57 million, accounting for 23.34 percent of total registered capital. Japanese investors had three FDI projects with total investment capital of US$16.09 million, accounting for 39.24 percent of total registered capital. In addition, Chinese-Taipei, France and China also had project in Bac Giang Province.
In terms of capital, Japan was the largest investor in Bac Giang Province in the first six months of this year. According to Bac Giang Department of Planning and Investment, Japan’s FDI into the province would continue to strongly grow because Japan still has three remaining projects in the processing sector, industrial manufacturing and the electronics industry.
Improving the investment environment
According to Bac Giang Department of Planning and Investment, the province would reach total newly registered capital and increased capital of about US$125 million this year. FDI disbursement in 2013 would stand at US$250 million.
According to the province’s plan, Bac Giang will grant licenses to 30 FDI projects in 2014 with total newly registered capital and increased capital of about US$170 million. FDI disbursement in the province in 2014 is expected to reach US$300 million. |
To achieve this goal, Bac Giang will continue to improve the investment environment with specific solutions, such as removing difficulties for businesses; completing infrastructure; supporting industrial zones in the province; improving administrative procedures; accelerating the progress of large projects; reviewing and adjusting development planning in order to further promoting FDI attraction into the province./.
