PANO – More than 300 Australian students will study in Vietnam for one year, starting from this July, to earn credit towards their Australian academic programs, through a range of experiences including clinical placements, short term research and semester based exchanges.

They will be funded by the Australian government through the AsiaBound Grants Program, which will support 3,700 Australian students to study in Asia during the year beginning this July. Vietnam is in the top seven preferred destination countries under this program.
The AsiaBound Grants Program is a significant initiative arising from the Australia in the Asian Century White Paper. A study experience in Asia enables young Australians to broaden and deepen their understanding of the region’s cultures and languages. AsiaBound will enhance people-to-people links and build up workforce capabilities.
The Australian Government is committed to increasing the numbers of Australian students who study in Asia, and will provide $47 million over four years for AsiaBound. Many Australian institutions already have links and partnerships across the region, including with Vietnam. AsiaBound grants will benefit students, education providers and enhance Australia’s engagement with the region now and into the future.
