(CPV) - Over the past four years, the Association of Agent Orange victims of the central province of Quang Ngai has mobilised VND16.7 billion from organizations, individuals, enterprises and sponsors to care for and assist AO victims across the province.
The money has been spevnt helping to recover AO victims’ movement functions, giving wheelchairs to the victims, building new houses, assisting the victims with production and vocational training, giving them healthcare and presents.
During the recent congress of the association, Mr Pham Truong Tho, deputy President of the Association, said that the province would continue to master exact information about AO victims, especially those in poor families in order to assist them promptly based on the State policies.
It would also widely disseminate the information about the negative consequences among AO victims, and increase mobilization of money from humanitarian individuals, organizations, sponsors and foreign non-governmental organizations to help the victims.
Statistics show that there are currently 23,500 living AO victims in the province, of which 4,000 families are classified poor and 1,200 families have three or more members who are AO victims.
So far 4,580 AO victims are benefiting from allowances./.
