Vietnam, Japan boost cooperation in economy, trade and industry

(CPV) -Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade (MoIT), Vu Huy Hoang, on July 1 talked with Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI),Toshimitsu Motegi and his delegation on the occasion of his working visit to Vietnam from July 1 – 3.


At the talk, Minister Hoang appreciated and thanked METI and the Japanese government for their positive contributions to Vietnam’s socio-economic development in recent years, especially in the fileds of energy, industry and trade. He stressed that the visit is a significant highlight for the Japan – Vietnam Friendship Year 2013 and it will offer opportunities for both sides to further promote their cooperative relationship in the near future.


Minister Toshimitsu Motegi and representatives of some businesses, presented contents which focused on Vietnam’s industrialization strategy within the framework of Vietnam – Japan cooperation from 2012, with a vision to 2030. Also the bilateral carbon offset mechanism, application of smart community model, cooperation in supporting industries and application of nuclear power technology for peaceful purposes, exploring, exploiting and processing rare earth and cooperation in TPP and RCEP negotiations.


Minister Hoang proposed METI and Japanese government to continue to support Vietnam in the fieds of energy, industry and trade such as exploring, exploting and processing oil and gas, coal, chemical substances and intellectual property.


At the end of the talk, the two ministers witnessed the signing ceremony of memorandum of understandings between Japanese businesses of Toshiba, Forval, Azusa and Espad and Vietnamese businesses of Hane and Cocomo on Hanoi Software Technology Park./.
