PANO – In response to the “Army joining hands in building new rural area” movement of the Ministry of National Defence, army units and local authorities actively worked together to mobilize 500,000 working days and raise more than VND 120 billion from their wages, welfare funds and donation campaigns to help local people since the beginning of this year.
Accordingly, along with building infrastructure and boosting economic and production development, army units also undertook 25 socio-economic projects worth more than VND 45 billion, and helped ethnic minority people in strategic areas ensure social order.
After checking the movement’s implementation, the Emulation and Commendation Board of the Ministry of Defence highly valued the achievements of army units, including Military Zones 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9; Corps 1, 3, 4; Border Guards; Commando Corps; Signal Corps; and Military-run Telecom Group Viettel.
