Tribute paid to war invalids and policy beneficiaries

PANO – In celebration of the War Invalids’ and Martyrs’ Day, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and NA Deputy Chairwoman, laid a wreath and offered incense to heroes and martyrs at Tien Giang provincial martyrs’ cemetery on July 23rd.


She also presented gifts, worth VND 2.2 million each, to 6 policy beneficiaries in Chau Thanh and Go Cong Dong district.

* The same day, Major General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics, inquired after, encouraged and gave gifts, totally valued at VND 101 million, to war invalids and sick soldiers at the Nho Quan War Invalids Sanatorium in Ninh Binh province.


* The People’s Committee of Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province, on July 23rd, received VND 12 billion from the Ministry of National Defence to build the district martyrs’ cemetery. In the Vietnam War, Khe Sanh-Huong Hoa was a fierce battlefield, considered the second Dien Bien Phu in the history of the national struggle against foreign invaders.


* The General Department of Logistics has contributed VND 1.41 billion to the “Gratitude Fund”, created jobs for 45 children of war invalids and martyrs, assisted 6 heroic Vietnamese mothers, and handed over 19 houses of gratitude and comradeship and 10 saving-books, worth VND 20 million each, to policy beneficiaries.


* Hospital 105 under the General Department of Logistics and Hanoi Capital High Command offered free health check-ups and medicines to nearly 1,000 policy beneficiaries in districts and towns across Hanoi. Besides, the hospital built some houses of gratitude and “VND100 houses”, donated nearly VND 20 million to the “House of Compassion” Fund in Hanoi and the program “Tribute to Martyrs”, as well as offered free meals to 400 poor patients.


* Former volunteer youth of Thai Binh province in the resistance war against American imperialists, on July 23rd, were presented with houses of gratitude, saving- books and other gifts, totally valued at VND 55 million, by various organizations nationwide.

* The Hai Duong provincial military command, on July 23rd, handed over 115 gifts to heroic Vietnamese mothers, war invalids, sick soldiers and people who rendered good services in the revolutionary cause of the country, and provided free health check-ups and medicines to 195 policy beneficiaries in Dong Lac commune, Nam Sach district.


* Division 361 of the Air Force and Air Defence Service handed over 4 houses of gratitude, worth VND 60 million each, to the division’s veterans who took part in the “Hanoi-Dien Bien Phu in the Air” campaign in December 1972.


The division’s troops also texted TALS to 1405 to contribute VND 10,000 for each SMS to gratitude activities in response to the messaging program “Tribute to martyrs”.


* Vocational College No. 5 under Military Zone 5 presented a house of gratitude and necessities to Nguyen Thi Muoi, the widow of a martyr who was a revolutionary soldier imprisoned by the enemy in the resistance war against American imperialists.


* This July, Hospital 4 under Army Corps 4 offered free health check-ups and medicines to more than 1,500 people, and presented hundreds of gifts to policy beneficiaries facing adversity.
