PANO – Two ships of Vietnam Marine Police left Hai Phong Port for Bach Long Vi Island on July 24th, ready to join the 8th joint patrol on fishery cooperation of the Tonkin Gulf, which is scheduled to start on July 25th, with the Chinese side.
Representatives from Vietnam’s Border Guard and Maritime Surveillance also participate in this joint patrol.
The aim of the joint patrol on the joint fishing ground in the Tonkin Gulf is to strengthen the traditional friendship between Vietnam and China and preserve and sustainably exploit the potential of maritime creatures in the water within the Agreement of the Tonkin Gulf.
The patrol is also to uphold international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Law on the Sea and Vietnam – China Tonkin Gulf Demarcation Agreement.
As scheduled, during the joint patrol, the two sides will organize exchanges and share experiences in their expertise.
