Phu Yen schools lack healthcare staff

The south-central province of Phu Yen said around 90 local schools do not have healthcare staff while only 108 out of a total of 437 schools have healthcare rooms.


In some schools, teachers have to double up as healthcare personnel in addition to teaching, it added.

Thai Nguyen to focus on rural development


The northern province of Thai Nguyen has promised financial and human support to 35 communes to develop.


The province hopes 20 per cent of its communes will reach the national standards for new rural areas by 2015. It targets increasing the rate to 50 per cent by 2020.

Binh Phuoc determined to safeguard forests


The southern province of Binh Phuoc has said it will earmark more than VND3 trillion (US$142 million) for protecting and developing forests in 2011-20.


It plans to protect more than 60,000ha by 2020 and afforest an area of 598ha besides 9,200ha of protective and special forests.

Quang Nam to move people from danger


The central province of Quang Nam is moving around 200 people to a resettlement area in Dai Hung commune, Dai Loc District ahead of the annual storm, landslide, and flood season at a cost of VND10 billion (US$47,000).
