Nhan Dan Online – Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son has stated that the Government has not banned internet users from sharing information on their personal websites.

He made the confirmation on September 8 during a televised interview about Government Decree 72, which stipulates the management, provision and use of internet service and online information.

Minister Son said the decree is designed to promote the development of the internet and online services.

It also establishes a legal framework to make the internet more orderly and ensure information security online.

Son said Decree 72 has no provisions forbidding individuals from sharing news on social networking sites.

It only prohibits personal websites, internal websites and specialised websites from copying content from official news organisations without their consent.

Therefore, the decree will help reinforce copyright protection and ensure the legitimate rights of licensed online newspapers.
