The Hanoitimes – President Gjorge Ivanov appreciated the great achievements in all fields of Vietnam in the innovation of economic – social development.
At the invitation of the President of the Republic of Macedonia Gjorge Ivanov, Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan has had an official visit to this country since December 1.
At the meeting with PM Nikola Gruevski, Vice President Doan informed her host about the results of talks with President Gjorge Ivanov and reiterated Vietnam’s unwavering policy of diversification and multilateralisation of external relations with a desire to strengthen the time-honoured friendship with Macedonia.
Both sides agreed upon the fine political cooperation at multilateral forums but saying economic cooperation has not lived up to their full potential.
The signing of cooperation agreements will create a favorable legal framework for boosting trade and investment cooperation between the two nations through establishing an intergovernmental committee on economic cooperation, they said.
They also underlined the necessity to promote delegation exchanges between ministries to expand cooperation in education, training, culture and tourism under which both sides will consider the possibility of signing of cooperation agreements in these fields.
Receiving Vice President Doan, Assembly Speaker Trajco Velianovski said her visit marks a new step of development in bilateral relations, especially on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
The two leaders consented to pay greater attention to bolstering cooperation between the two legislative bodies by intensifying exchange visits and experience sharing.
Velianovski affirmed the Macedonian Parliament’s support for broader bilateral cooperation in a multitude of fields, principally in politics, economics, culture and education. He suggested setting up friendship parliamentarians’ groups in both countries to strengthen legislative cooperation.
Both sides believed that with the sound relations based on signed cooperation agreements, the Vietnam- Macedonia economic ties will move forward to expand cooperation of each nation. Vice President Doan and Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski witnessed the signing of an agreement on economic cooperation and another on visa exemption for diplomatic and official passport holders.
On the occasion, Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan conveyed an official invitation to visit Vietnam from National Assembly Chairman to President of the Assembly Trajko Veljanovski. President Gjorge Ivanov has happily accepted the invitation. Specific time of the visit will be arranged through diplomatic channels.
The same day, Vice President Doan met with Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and President of the National Assembly Trajco Velianovski..
