National Day celebrated in Germany

(VOV) -The Vietnamese Embassy has held a banquet to celebrate the 68th anniversary of National Day at the Viethaus in Berlin.



At her opening speech, Ambassador Nguyen Thi Hoang Anh highlighted the prominent achievements inbilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Germany, especially when the two countries increased political ties into a strategic partnership in 2011.


Both sides drew up an action plan for implementing the strategic cooperation framework, and completed bilateral negotiations for development cooperation with a special focus on the green growth and sustainable development in Vietnam.


Many key projects have already been implemented, such as the German House in Ho Chi Minh City and a pilot project on training Vietnamese orderlies in Germany.


Ambassador Anh thanked German organisations, businesses and friends for their continued support and close collaboration, which has made the achievements of recent times possible.


Minister of State Cornelia Pieper affirmed that Vietnam is the first Southeast Asian country to become a strategic partner of Germany, showing strong development in mutual interests between Vietnam and Germany.


Germany is the biggest trade partner of Vietnam within the EU. Choosing Ho Chi Minh City as their venue for the2014 German Business Forum in the Asia-Pacific region demonstrates the German business community’s interest in Vietnam, Pieper asserted.


During the ceremony, the guests watched two films on Vietnam’s land and people, enjoyed traditional music performances, and sampled traditional Vietnamese dishes.
