Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs in association with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Irish Embassy in Vietnam recently held a seminar on “Sharing sustainable poverty reduction models” in Haiphong City.
This is a part of the project “Support for implementation of Resolution No.80 on directions for sustainable poverty reduction in the 2011-2020 period and the National Targeted Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction in the 2011-2015 period” funded by UNDP and Irish Embassy in Vietnam.
In the 2012-2015 period, the project will expand the implementation of proper and effective poverty reduction models, which are expected to help poor people and households improve production and business capacity and get income from different kinds of work. The project has contributed positively to enhancing effectiveness of the poverty reduction program in especially difficult areas. Nevertheless, it also showed shortcomings, such asthe expansion of poverty reduction models was still lack of flexibility;the implementation of models sometimes did not spring from demands of the poor and did not make the most of initiatives of the poor and grassroots levels as well.
