A market called “Cho phien dau xua” (An old-styled market), which sells a wide variety of items, including antiques, handicrafts and ornamental plants, will open its first session in Hanoi on Nov 3.

The session, to be held at Hanoi Museum on Pham Hung street in Tu Liem district, will have 40 stalls. The stalls are modeled after the traditional markets in the countryside and feature images reminiscent of the rustic scenes and traditional art space such as the banyan and village temples.

Visitors can peruse among items and antiques spanning various periods, handicraft pieces including those on silk, lacquer and animal horns, and even licensed replicas.

Traditional art performances will also be held on a regular basis, and some 15,000 ornamental trees and plants of various kinds will also be showcased.

The market, put on by Thang Long Antique Association, is expected to run regularly from 9am to 4.30pm on Sundays.
