This brought IIP for the Jan-Nov period to a 5.6 percent increase in comparison to the same period last year. Of this, the index of the mining industry increased 4.2 percent, and the processing and manufacturing industry had an IIP rise of 8.4 percent.
Meanwhile IIP of the electricity production, distribution, and water supply, waste management and disposal climbed by 8.2 percent and 9.8 percent, respectively.
In the first ten months this year, the two major hubs of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City recorded IIP rises of 4.4 percent and 4.6 percent, respectively. The highest IIP increase went to Quang Ngai at 18.5 percent, followed by Vinh Phuc (14 percent), Dong Nai (7.6 percent) and Binh Duong (7.4 percent).
GSO reported that the consumption index of the processing and manufacturing industry during the Jan-Oct period surged 10.4 percent against a year previous. Other industries enjoying high consumption index rises were vehicle engines, leather and related products, products from rubber and plastic, and garments./.
