As of September 2013, EU member countries had poured capital into Vietnam in more than 1,800 projects, valued at over USD32.8 billion, with implemented capital reaching USD13.1 billion.
Currently, 23 out of 28 EU member countries have investment projects in Vietnam.
EU is a traditional partner of Vietnam and ranks the second in investment in Vietnam. EU businesses are researching the expanding investment opportunity in Vietnam.
Trade relation and investment between Vietnam and EU has continued to develop in recent years. Bilateral export and import turnover is expected to reach USD32-33 billion by the end of 2013
According to statistics by the General Department of Vietnam Customs, in the first nine months of 2013, export and import turnover between Vietnam and EU member countries posted over USD24.8 billion, a year-on-year rise of 20.8 percent. Of this figure, exports were valued more than USD17.8 billion, up 25.1 percent, while imports reached an estimated USD7 billion, up 11.1 percent./.
