During the visit, Hun Sen held talks with PM Nguyen Tan Dung and met with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Truong Tan Sang and National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.
(VOV) – Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen and his wife on December 28 ended their three-day trip to Vietnam (December 26-28) at the invitation of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
At these meetings, both sides affirmed their determination to push the invaluable friendship and all-sided cooperation to new heights by maintaining reciprocal delegation exchanges and capitalising on complementary competitive advantages in trade, tourism, telecommunications, aviation, banking, oil and gas, and industrial agriculture.
They also agreed upon specific measures to enhance their nations’ venerable friendship and lift two-way trade to US$5 billion by 2015.
The two sides reached high consensus on stronger partnerships in the fight against terrorism, trans-national crime, smuggling, and drug and human trafficking while reiterating the observance of the principle of not allowing any hostile forces to exploit one’s territory to harm security in the other and intervene in the other’s internal affairs.
The leaders reiterated their resolve to complete the border demarcation as soon as possible.
On the East Sea issues, they consented to uphold ASEAN’s common stance mentioned in its Six-Point Principle on the East Sea, placing importance on maintaining peace and stability in the East Sea, settling disputes by peaceful means in line with international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea while speeding up the implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea and the formulation of a Code of Conduct in the East Sea between ASEAN and China.
Discussing regional and global issues of common concern, they pledged to work closely together at multilateral frameworks like the United Nations, ASEAN and other regional and sub-regional cooperation mechanisms.
The leaders witnessed the signing of 10 cooperation documents on extradition, trade promotion, transit of goods, a credit for Long Binh-Charay Thom bridge construction, education, media, public security, oil and gas, and fertilisers.
During his stay, PM Hun Sen also visited Danang City and met with Vietnamese investors in Cambodia, former experts and former Vietnamese voluntary soldiers who had stood side by side with the Cambodian people during the war time.
