BA RIA -VUNG TAU (VNS) — The Viet Nam Maritime Pilots Association made its debut at a ceremony held in the southern province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau on Friday.
The association will be responsible for making proposals to develop and refine policies for the sector.
It will serve as a platform for dialogue between the sector’s participants, such as the companies operating in the sector, as well as regional and international pilot organisations.
The association will represent the sector at forums and at the International Maritime Pilots’ Association (VMPA), collect information and help its members gain access to advanced technologies.
The establishment of the VMPA is expected to improve the quality of the services provided by the sector and promote the development of seaports in the country.
The association will operate with 300 members and a 15-member executive board in its first term from 2014 to 2019. — VNS
