The Viet Nam Football Federation is going to sign up Bruno Jose Garcia Formoso as the coach of the national futsal (indoor football) team.
The Spanish coach will work on a three-year contract from 2014.
Formoso, 39, is a member and trainer of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (REEF). He won the Ramon Cobo, an award for the best REEF coach in the 2011-12 season. He then guided Hangzhou Zhejiang Dragons and helped them take second place at the Chinese futsal championship. He finished a contract with Peru’s national team in August.
Tran Anh Tu, head of Viet Nam futsal team at the SEA Games, said Formoso was expected to help Viet Nam’s team to compete at the continental level.
Earlier, Viet Nam lost 1-8 to Thailand in the final match of SEA Games and took a silver medal. Former coach Sergio Gargelli of Italy had stated several times that Viet Nam could defeat Thailand. However, he was blamed for the mistakes made in the final match that led to Viet Nam’s defeat. His contract, which ended after the Games, was not extended.. — VNS
