LAM DONG (VNS) — The Central Highlands province of Lam Dong has approved a VND38.1-billion (US$1.8 million) project to preserve and upgrade the province’s archaeological site of Cat Tien.

Funded by the National Target Programme on Culture, the project will be divided into two phases.

During the first phase, running from now until 2015, some seriously damaged relics will be repaired.

The second phase between 2016 and 2017 will focus on building a museum and a management building as well as on developing the infrastructure.

Discovered in 1985 in two communes – Quang Ngai and Duc Pho in Cat Tien District – the site, called “Cat Tien Holy Land”, has been recognised as a National Historical Relic since 1997.— VNS
