Severe damage caused by typhoon Sinlaku

Because of the influence of pressure circulation, the central and Central Highland provinces have experienced heavy rains on the large scale, reported by the Central Steering Board for Flood and Storms Control on November 30.

Flood level has increased rapidly and alerted at level 1-2 on rivers in Quang Ngai, Phu Yen, Gia Lai and Kon Tum.


In addition, heavy rains were forecasted to experience on the large scale on Monday, which will cause an additional flooding on rivers from Quang Tri to Binh Dinh.



Dealing with typhoon Sinlaku, local authorities of Phu Yen, Binh Dinh and Khanh Hoa urgently evacuated more than 27,000 households and 105, 000 people to safer places.


Until now, the typhoon caused severe damage in property and lives, reported Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat who is also the head of the Central Steering Board for Flood and Storms Control.


Mr. Cao Duc Phat also urgently directed south central and Central Highland provinces to keep close watch on moment of flash flooding.
