Drug Traffickers Seized at Tan Son Nhat Airport

The Customs Department at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, Ho Chi Minh City, recently uncovered and seized a Philippine woman carrying 1.64 kg of cocaine in the suitcase. The value was estimated at VND8 billion.


Also at that time, customs officers also discovered the 3.04kg of pseudoephedrine that an Australian, aged 23, had hidden in two plastic boxes of tamarind marmalade. He was preparing to fly to Sydney. The precursors are worth an estimated over VND6 billion.


The Customs Department handed over all of the evidence to the Police Department for Drug-Related Crime of Ho Chi Minh City (PC47).


In 2013, the Customs Branch of Tan Son Nhat International Airport turned up 12 drug trafficking cases, capturing 16 traffickers and 30.34 kg of drug and 2,065 pills of synthetic drugs. The total value was estimated at VND100 billion (US$5 million).
