Southern province invests VND155 billion in upgrading waste treatment

The People’s Committee of the southern province of Dong Thap has adopted a project to upgrade and expand the Dap Da waste treatment area in Cao Lanh district, and another in Sa Dec city, with a total capital of VND155 billion.

These two waste treatment areas lie in the northern and southern region of Tien River, and are overused, causing environmental pollution. The upgrade aims to basically deal with waste problems.

Accordingly, the project on Dap Da area will be carried out on 25 hectares with a capital of VND88.5 billion, expected to be able to treat waste for the next 17 years. In particular, it can deal with 50 tons of organic waste per day, 20 tons of mud per day, 28 tons of inorganic waste per day, 6 tons of hazardous waste and ash per day and 21 tons of reused waste per day by burying; and deal with 7 tons of waste per day by burning.

Meanwhile, the area to be upgraded in Sa Dec city will be built on 12.5 hectares, which can bury 16 tons of organic waste per day, 17 tons of inorganic waste per day; bury and burn 10 tons of hazardous waste per day, 13 tons of reused waste per day. The area will be upgraded to be capable of treating waste for the next 10 years./.
