USAID helps protect community’s health

VGP – Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen The Phuong on January 24 held a working session with the US Agency for International Development (USAID) in Viet Nam in the framework of the Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS), under the USAID.


USAID Director Joakim Parker said his organization will support Vietnamese agencies and social organizations to establish and launch strategies to mitigate the consequences of climate change.

On the community’s health, the USAID Director revealed that after launching the methadone-applied detoxication project successfully in six centers in Hai Phong City, Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City, the USAID is helping Viet Nam realize this model sustainably at other 10 cities and provinces.


The organization will assist the Vietnamese Government in providing HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment services effectively from the domestic finance along with giving financial and technical assistance to improve the national health care system and deal with emerging epidemic risks.


Deputy Minister Phuong committed to cooperating with other related ministries, agencies and localities in protecting the community’s health.
