At a reception held on Friday for newly-accredited Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Herminio Lopez Diaz, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh said Vietnam attaches importance to its friendship and cooperation with Cuba.
The deputy PM, who is also the Minister of Foreign Affairs, also expressed his hope that the new ambassador will contribute greatly to promoting ties between the two countries.
The ambassador should help further boost the bilateral cooperation in economics, trade and investment in accordance with the expectations of the two sides, Minh said.
In reply, the guest pledged he will continue to deepen the traditional relationship between Vietnam and Cuba, which he said have been built and promoted by both countries’ leaders and people.
On the same day, at a meeting with Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Preeti Saran, Deputy PM Minh said Vietnam backs India’s Look East policy and highly values the traditional friendship and strategic partnership between Vietnam and India.
Vietnam wants India to continue making great contributions to maintaining peace, stability and growth in the region and the world, the deputy PM said.
For his part, Ambassador Saran promised that he will work closely with relevant Vietnamese agencies to further strengthen ties and cooperation between the two countries.
