According to Announcement N.103/TB-VPCP, dated March 12, 2014, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung – Chairman of the National Committee on Climate Change – has directed the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Planning and Investment as well as relevant agencies to review the projects on the list of priority projects under the National Target Program to Respond to Climate Change (in terms of goals, tasks and scale of these projects), on that basis, the Ministry will clarify and rearrange the projects in order to provide investment for urgent projects.

Specifically, the Prime Minister prioritized investment for planting protected forests, coastal mangroves projects, sea dyke strengthening projects, projects of flood control for the big cities of Ho Chi Minh and Can Tho cities.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment collaborated with the relevant agencies to build, update, publish maps of flood and subsidence risks, especially in coastal areas, islands affected by the sea level rise. The Ministry will help localities build proactive measures and plans to cope with climate change and natural disasters.
