To 2050, Ho Chi Minh City actively responds to climate change

Ho Chi Minh City is perfecting the draft of Programme Action Plans to implement the Resolution N. 24 – NQ/TW of the 7th session of 11th Central Committee of Communist Party of Vietnam on actively responding to climate change, enhancing natural resource management and environmental protection.

Accordingly, to 2020 Ho Chi Minh City will basically implement solutions related to climate change adaptation, disaster prevention, transfer and application of new technologies, clean technology, renewable energy in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Furthermore, the city will complete reviewing and adding criteria to adapt to climate change in the urban and new rural construction masterplans as well as sectors planning on use of resources in a sustainable way. All sources of waste will be controlled; waste will be properly treated before discharging to environment. Biodiversity, protection and development of the city’s forests will be enhanced, especially mangrove forests in Can Gio Biosphere Reserve.


By 2050, Ho Chi Minh City will actively respond to climate change, protect, exploit and use natural resources in logical, economical and sustainable way. Environmental quality and balanced ecosystem will be ensured.
