More social support for policy beneficiaries

PANO – Army units have carried out many meaningful activities to help local needy people and policy beneficiaries improve their living standards.

On March 21st, the Ho Chi Minh City branch of the military-run telecom group Viettel began the construction of 5 gratitude houses, worth VND 60 million each, for people facing difficulties in the city. This year, the unit plan to build and hand over 15 houses for the needy.


On the previous day, the city’s Border Guard Command and other relevant agencies held an artistic exchange and presented 16 gratitude houses, 200 gifts, 100 wastebaskets, medicine cupboards and bookcases, 30 Vietnamese long dress to the local needy and students. The presents totally cost about VND 800 million.


Meanwhile, the Nghe An provincial Border Guard Command handed over 7 cattle to poor families in Mon Son commune, Con Cuong district. In 2014, the unit will present 30 cattle to people in the province to further promote the hunger elimination and poverty reduction movement.


Besides, a delegation of the Hoi Son pagoda in Long Binh precinct, District 9, Ho Chi Minh City, granted 500 gifts worth VND 400,000 each to the poor ethnic minority people and patients with leprosy in Dak Glei and Dak To districts and Kon Tum city, Kon Tum province.
