(CPV) - In spite of economic difficulties in recent years, two-way trade exchange between Vietnam and Brazil has grown firmly and seen significant achievements.
According to statistics by the General Department of Vietnam Customs, in the first two months this year, total two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Brazil reached more than USD490 million, a year-on-year rise of 122 percent. Of this, export turnover to Brazil posted USD215.4 million, up 52.9 percent, while imports were valued at USD274.6, up 244 percent.
Among Vietnam’s export commodity structure to Brazil, telephones and components had the highest export turnover, followed by seafood, computers, electronic products, garments and textiles, fibre of all kinds, rubber products and bamboo products.
The country mainly imported from Brazil the commodities of corn, materials for leather-footwear and garments, livestock feed, wood and its products, chemical substances and plastic.
Aiming to raise the two-way trade turnover to USD3 billion in 2014, Vietnamese businesses should further join trade promotion activities to expand Vietnam’s exports to Brazil, one of the country’s most high potential markets in Latin America./.
