HCM City has invested in a project to create a milk-processing business. The city’s total number of dairy cows was 98,450 in the first quarter of this year, an increase of 2.7 per cent compared with the same period last year. Milk production this year has been more than 65,000 tonnes, an increase of 5.9 per cent.
The city’s project focuses on providing local farmers with financial and technical support to breed more cows.

Hai Phong to hold 2014 Tourist Festival
The northern coastal province of Hai Phong will launch its 2014 Tourist Festival with the theme “Do Son Beach-The Sea is Coming.” Do Van Viet, head of the province’s Cultural and Tourist Office, said the eight-day event would begin April 26, featuring cultural activities, and traditional sport and game competitions.
Several hundreds thousand local and foreign tourists are expected to join the event. Local authorities promised to offer quality tourist and accommodations.

Ministry encourages youth to play sports
The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Hoang Tuan Anh, and Nguyen Dac Vinh, the first secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s Central Committee, have agreed to launch a social programme encouraging young people to play sports for health reasons.
The programme, to extend through 2017, focuses on students from junior and senior secondary schools, colleges and universities.

Science Creation Day to be held in HCM City
The annual event Science Creation Day 2014 will be held in HCM City this month, according to the organisers, the Department of Science and Technology and Youth Centre for Science and Technology. The event is held to encourage the habit of research, the organisers said.
Young people are encouraged to send their research studies in different fields to the organising board, via the website http://ift.tt/1qLdR7K. Projects on key issues like environment, biology and the information technology are encouraged. Finalists will receive VND95 million (US$4.500) each to apply their research findings.
