The National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion housed its 100th successful stem cell transplants, said the institute’s Director Nguyen Anh Tri on April 23.
Since its first successful attempt in 2006, the institute carried out 100 stem cell transplants, accounting for half of the country’s cases. Since November 2013, the institute operated three surgeries on children patients.
The cost of the procedure is much cheaper than in other countries, said Dr. Tri. The institute will be setting up stem cell donation bank.
