Nguyen Thi Ha, owner of a distribution system of tools and cosmetics for nail care, is vice chairwoman of the Vietnamese Business Association in Germany.
She is one of the first people to introduce the nail sector in Germany and she is also the first person who has opened a company that supplies tools and machines for nail care there. At present, she has opened a large shop to provide nail care products in Berlin, which earns a revenue of up to EUR1 million per year.
After they arrived to Berlin in the 1990′s, Ha and her husband began working in the clothing business to earn a living. Not long after, the clothing industry began to decline, so she looked for a new business. By 2005, after a period of market research, she decided to turn to nail care, although she was not sure if Germany’s market would embrace it.
Moreover, her private life added obstacles for her to make a living, because she was raising two children in a foreign country. Thanks to her own efforts and favorable opportunities, her business enjoyed extreme success. In the US, nail care for the Vietnamese community has been developing for a long time. However, in Europe, this profession has just began to appear in the UK in 2000, and in 2005, Ms. Ha brought the profession to Berlin.
Ms. Ha said that she had chosen this profession because she had studied chemistry in the Soviet Union. Equipped with methodical knowledge in the field of chemicals, she had an advantage that few people have. Her knowledge allows her to explain scientifically to customers the benefits of different chemicals in nail care products. In addition, her naturally diligent, motivated, and detail-oriented personality aided her success.
So far, many nail salons run by Vietnamese people have been opened in Germany. After realizing the service market is developing rapidly in Germany and several other Eastern European countries, Ms. Ha became a pioneer in the field of supplying and distributing equipment, chemicals, cosmetics for nail salons. She has then traveled to the UK and the US to research and order goods.
Currently, her company is the large importer for three leading chemical plants in the US nail sector. She also actively participates in international trade fairs to search for new categories of goods as well as to learn more business experiences of other enterprises.
“In 2014, we plan to participate in two major international trade fairs in Germany in order to affirm the Vietnamese people’s brand to Germany’s large companies. At these fairs, we will be able to reach out to many German companies and other companies in the world,” Ms. Ha said./.
