(VOV) – The northern province of Ninh Binh is putting finishing touches to the United Nations Day of Vesak 2014 set to start at Bai Dinh pagoda of the Trang An tourism complex on May 7.
The provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has received 1,500 hand embroidery paintings of King Dinh Tien Hoang’s Temple specially made for the event, made 1,500 DVD copies and printed 1,500 books in English, French and the Vietnamese languages introducing the Trang An tourism complex to international delegates.
The local health department has also disinfected the pagoda areas and hotels where international delegates will be staying during the event. Three inspection teams have been established to monitor food safety and hygiene; and six mobile medical teams have been set up to provide services in case of emergency.
Hoa Lu University has proffered a list of its top students with a good command of foreign languages to work with medical teams, and another of 1,500 students to participate in a candlelit night for peace.
All of the hotels in the area, including 30 three-star hotels, nearly 100 smaller hotels and guest houses along with over 20 pagodas in the province have been fully stocked, equipped and staffed to serve the needs of delegates to the event.
Xuan Truong Enterprise has been hired to set up a conference hall at the pagoda capable of accommodating 3,400 delegates. The company is also preparing 1,000 boats at Trang An wharf to serve an anticipated 6,000 visitors throughout the event.
Organisers expect to receive more than 10,000 delegates from around the world, including 1,500 Buddhist dignitaries, scholars, monks and nuns from 100 countries and territories.
