On June 2, Da Nang City met with the boatmen of DNa 90152 TS which was sunk by Chinese ships while fishing at Vietnam’s Paracel archipelago on May 26.

During the meeting, Nguyen Manh Hung, President of the Da Nang city Fatherland Front, praised the boatmen’s bravery. He also showed appreciation for the boatmen from fishing boats near the boat DNa 90152 who rescued the 10 boatmen before being led to the mainland safely by authorised agencies.

“The 10 fishermen are living witnesses to denounce China’s dangerous actions caused to Vietnamese fishermen while the sunk boat is also a proof denouncing China’s illegal and perverse action in Vietnam’s waters,” Mr. Hung stressed.

Representatives of the boat’s crew confirmed that support from agencies and communities will help them to build a new boat to continue offshore fishing.

On May 26, while conducting a regular fishing voyage at their traditional fishing grounds the DNa 90152 was attacked and rammed by the Chinese ship 11209 until it sank. The incident took place near the Haiyang Shiyou-981 drilling rig that China illegally placed in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.
