PANO – A free-swimming course was opened for children with adversity in Da Lat city by Lam Dong Provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs on June 25th.
In 10 days, children aged from 9 to 14 will be taught with basic swimming skills to avoid being drowned.
This is among activities to partly prevent accidents from drowning for local children.
After the first course, the department plans to replicate such course to other districts and city of the province.
It is necessary to note that some 3,500 children died of drowning each year in Vietnam. Thus, equipping children with basic knowledge of swimming might help reduce this fatality rate from drowning.
