As released by Quang Ngai PPC, in the first six months of 2014, the total marine catch in Quang Ngai province is estimated to reach about 70,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 7.6 percent, achieving 50 percent of the yearly plan.
In the remaining months of the year, the provincial authority will continue to encourage and create more favorable conditions for fishermen newly-building or upgrading their fishing vessels towards improving the capacity to increase the number of offshore fishing vessels as well as the efficiency of fishery.
The functional agencies are requested to quickly and timely carry out policies related to fishery development, replicate the effective production models through offshore fishing cooperatives, fisheries unions, etc…
Currently, Quang Ngai province owns 5,600 fishing vessels with the total capacity of over 858,259 CV,of which 2,500 are offshore fishing vessels.
