Saigon Commercial Cooperative Union or Saigon Co.op was given the Second Class Independence Medal by Vietnamese President on the 25th anniversary of its founding, on May 31.

Secretary of the Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Le Thanh Hai, former Deputy President Truong My Hoa, Deputy Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Thi Hong attended the event.
Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary Le Thanh Hai praised efforts as well as achievements of leaders, staffs, officers of Saigon co.op in the previous time. Saigon Co.op is considered as a business group model of Vietnam as well as international cooperative system. Saigon Co.op becomes one of leading retailers of Vietnam.
Secretary Hai also hoped that Saigon Co.op will continue to overcome new challenges to develop in the upcoming time.
Saigon Commercial Cooperative Union was established since 1989. Up to now, over 25 years Saigon Co-op has 70 Co.op Mart supermarkets, 74 Co.op Food supermarkets, Co.op Xtra system, and HTV Co.op shopping channel.
Saigon Co.op includes 14,000 staffs to service over 300, 000 customers every day. In 2013, Saigon Co.op reached turnover of VND 22,000 billion.
