Invested by Sembcorp Group (Singapore), the thermal power plant is to be built on a total area of 14 hectares, so it is estimated that about 2,000 households in the project area will be relocated.

To hand over clean site to investor in Q1 2016, the work of survey for land acquisition in two communes of Binh Dong and Binh Son has been pushed up by Dung Quat Economic Zone Authority.

7 teams of workers have been surveying every family in the project area.

It is reported that most people in project area are happy to move to new area. They said: “it must have been difficult, but we are happy to move.”

This is the largest survey for land acquisition in Dung Quat site so far. The second survey will be completed in July.

Dung Quat thermal power plant is the second largest project in Dung Quat site, after the Dung Quat Oil Refinery.

The 1,200-MW thermal power pant is invested at a total of 2.3 billion USD. It is projected to supply 7 billion kwh per year after being put in to operation.

The project is expected to kick off local socio-economic development and create enough-stable electricity for as many as heavy industrial complexes and plants in Dung Quat Economic Zone.
