PANO – The Navy, Thanh Hoa provincial Military Command and People’s Committee on July 29th held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the monument in Lach Truong Port in Hoang Truong commune, Hoang Hoa district in commemoration of the first victory of naval troops and people in the province.



The torch-shaped monument including a 21.3m high pedestal and a 16.44m torch and a stele carved with the symbol of the Vietnam People’s Navy and Lach Truong Victory will be built on the area of 2,500sq.m at a cost of VND 5 billion.


The cultural and historical project is to remember, honour and pay gratitude to contributions and sacrifices of troops and people for the national liberation cause as well as to teach young generation revolutionary tradition of the nation and intimate relations between troops and people. It also aims to encourage troops and people to successfully fulfill all national protection missions in the new context.


Also at the ceremony, the participants together recalled the historic events taking place half a century ago in Lach Truong, and affirmed that the victory on August 2nd and 5th, 1964 will forever be the pride and important glorious landmark of the nation, the symbol of courage and solidarity between troops and people to defend national sacred sovereignty and territorial integrity.


The victory days have been observed as the traditional day of the first victory of the Navy and Northern people.
