Notably, since May, five PAN reporters have volunteered to be side by side with Vietnam Coast Guard and Fisheries Surveillance forces to protect the national sovereignty at the area where China illegally sit its drilling rig Haiyang Shiyou-981 deep in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.

At the conference, many delegates agreed that the PAN’s articles have been encouraging Vietnam’s law enforcement forces at sea to surmount difficulties and resolutely hold onto the sea to safeguard national sovereignty and to not fall in Chinese forces’ traps. They also confirmed that the PAN should maintain the column on combating the peaceful evolution, suggesting the newspaper to have more articles on latest modern equipments to affirm Vietnam People’s Army’s power and make clear the country’s self-defence target; and on initiatives relating to technical improvement. Besides, PAN should dispatch more reporters to Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagos, DK1 platform, and units in the whole army to have more updated news.
