(CPV) - The cut-off for expressions of interest for Australian Government’s Direct Aid Program (DAP) 2014-2015 projects north of and including Thua Thien – Hue province is 5:00 pm on September 12.

According to a press release issued by the Australian Embassy Hanoi on August 21, DAP provides grants for small-scale development projects aimed at alleviating hardship and advancing development outcomes in Vietnam’s disadvantaged communities.

Its funding is available to individuals, community groups, NGOs, academic institutions, libraries, museums, and other organizations engaged in development activities in Vietnam on a not for profit basis.

Once expressions of interest have been assessed, short-listed applicants will be asked to submit full applications.

Projects Australia has funded through DAP in previous years have helped to improve living standards in disadvantaged communities in Vietnam. We will this year again be looking to fund projects that help to support poverty elimination, education, health, people with disabilities and the environment”, said Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr Hugh Borrowman.

The Australian Embassy supported 14 projects across provinces in northern Vietnam between 2013-2014.

DAP funding is in addition to Australia’s significant bilateral aid program for Vietnam. Overall, Australia will provide an estimated AUD141.3 million (around USD131.3 million) in Official Development Assistance to Vietnam in the 2014-2015 fiscal year./.
