PANO – The Military Zone 5 Command on August 5th held a ceremony in Ba To district, Quang Ngai province, to inaugurate and hand over the upgraded Ba To relic site to the locality.

The upgrading was part of activities to mark the 70th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army, 25th anniversary of the whole people’s defence festive day, towards 70th anniversary of Ba To Uprising (March 12th 1945-2015) and 70th founding anniversary of Military Zone 5 (October 16th 1945-2015).

After an uprising to occupy Ba To Post, the Ba To Uprising Command held a ceremony at the Ba To stadium on March 12th 1945 to establish the Ba To militant team (predecessor of Military Zone 5). The stadium was recognized as a national relic in 1980 by the Ministry of Culture and Information (present Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism).

Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Tran Quang Phuong, the zone’s commissar, affirmed that once operational, the relic site would be a destination for MZ’s troops to learn more about the revolutionary traditions of the nation, and promote their determination to firmly defending national sovereignty and integrity.
