(VOV) – Liurka Rodriguez Barrios, Charge d’affaires of the Cuban Embassy, paid a visit to Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) on August 29 in anticipation of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2) and VOV’s 69thanniversary (September 7).
Receiving the Cuban diplomat, VOV Deputy Director General Vu Hai briefed his guest on the national radio’s developments and thanked the government and people of Cuba, especially Radio Havana Cuba, for providing valuable assistance to VOV during the anti-US resistance war in the 20th century and for training VOV’s Spanish Service staff.
VOV is developing relations with several Cuban partners, including the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television, and it is seeking the Cuban embassy’s support in realising cooperation agreements and programmes it has already signed with Cuban partners, Hai said.
For her part, Barrios voiced her embassy’s support for VOV in increasing cooperation with Cuban media agencies to help further tighten Cuba-Vietnam relations.
She told Hai that VOV is an important national media agency that disseminates overseas-oriented information to different regions of the world, including Latin America.
She said she has been a regular listener of VOV for the past 10 years during her working terms in Vietnam. She keeps abreast of happenings in Vietnam and the world through VOV’s Spanish broadcasts and VOV website, saying VOV provides fast, reliable information.
Both sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation, particularly in the exchange of information and staff, between VOV and Cuban media agencies. The Cuban diplomat said her embassy will help establish contact between Cuban media agencies and VOV to receive VOV staff for training.
