Vietnam plans to complete the equitisation of over 400 SOEs by the end of 2015.
Nhan Dan – The Government’s target to equitise 432 State-owned enterprises (SOEs) in 2015 is attainable, according to the Enterprise Reform and Development Committee (ERDC).
This remark was made during a meeting on August 6 reviewing SOE equitisation in the first seven months of 2014.
During the period, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung approved the equitisation plans of 20 State owned corporations under his direct authority and the re-organisation of another 76 SOEs was also completed.
According to the ERDC, Vinatex, Vinalines and other enterprises under the Ministry of Transport have seen significant progress in equitisation while the progress of enterprises under several other ministries and provincial authorities is currently behind schedule.
Speaking at the meeting, PM Nguyen Tan Dung urged ministries, agencies and enterprises to step up their restructuring efforts with the key task being the re-organising of key corporate leaders, who are encouraged to resign if they cannot fulfil their duty.
He also asked the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to introduce appropriate measures to support redundant employees during the equitisation process.
