The DSD is an official language diploma conferred by the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the States in the Federal Republic of Germany to high school students abroad.

Students from Viet Duc High School and Foreign Languages Specialized High School received the DSD Level-l Certificate which is an important precondition for study in Germany.

The holder of a DSD Level-l Certificate has met the German language proficiency requirements for admission to a preparatory course taken to enter a German university.

The DSD Level-1 Certificate is the equivalent of a TOEFL iBT score ranging from 57 to 86.

Speaking at the conferment event, Turned Jonas Koll, head of the Cultural and Press Department of the German Embassy, said the DSD is more than just a language test.

Koll added that students have to enroll in a German program where they study philosophy and working methods of the German in order to acquire the certificate.

The DSD thus makes an important contribution to forging a closer connection between Vietnam and Germany, he added.

The certificate has been awarded at many schools worldwide since the 1970s.

The number of schools around the world allowed to teach courses for the DSD has topped 1,000 since the German Federal Foreign Office in 2008 launched the “Schools: Partners for the Future” (PASCH) initiative in 2008.

PASCH currently has a network of 17 partner schools in Vietnam.
