PANO – Phung Tue Chau, an overseas Vietnamese in the USA, has been helping Vietnamese community there further understand their fatherland via her radio programs on youtube named “Tieng que huong” (Voice of the Fatherland).
Chau used to work for a group hostile to the Vietnamese Government in the USA. Until 1995, when US President Bill Clinton planned to reestablish the US-Vietnam ties, she started to stay away from the extremists and began to take part in activities in support of the homeland.

Acknowledging her previous wrongdoings, Chau found out more about the homeland by reading leading newspapers such as the People, the People’s Army, Youth and Liberated Saigon. The most important thing is that she has realized the best things the State of Vietnam has been bringing to the people.
Wishing to contribute to the homeland, she teamed with some friends to launch a radio program named Voice of the Fatherland on the internet in 2005 and the radio station is right in her house.
This program is broadcast once a month, sometimes twice a month with special events. Recently, the program has been launched on youtube.
The program has partly made the Vietnamese residents in the USA understand developments in the homeland after the wars and at the same time is the tool to expose the acts against the State of Vietnam by extreme groups in the USA.
In April 2014, Chau had a chance to visit Truong Sa archipelago of Vietnam and she was touched seeing quiet sacrifices of naval soldiers. She held that stories and sentiments about troops and people in the archipelago would be aired on the program of the Voice of the Fatherland as an appeal to those who have not yet trusted in the Government of Vietnam to change their minds and stance to join hands with Vietnamese people in the homeland to safeguard national sovereignty.
