Rolls-Royce officially announced the sale of a Phantom to a Vietnamese customer during the opening of its first authorized dealership in Hanoi on Wednesday.
Doan Hieu Minh, director of Rolls Royce Motor Cars Hanoi, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that the Phantom Oriental Sun, with its unique design built on Phantom EWB Series II, was sold out.
Minh did not provide details on the buyer but local media reported that the luxury car is now owned by a hotel tycoon in Hanoi.
The buyer asked that the price of the car remain confidential as well, but Tuoi Tre reported that the lowest price for a Rolls-Royce in Vietnam is 200,000 euros (US$264,250). Vietnam joined the World Bank’s lower-middle income bracket in 2009, with gross national income per capita rising to $1,755 in 2012, from $110 two decades earlier.
Minh said the Oriental Sun is one with the most unique series’ among all Phantoms, which significantly increased the price.
Paul Harris, Rolls Royce Motor Cars Asia-Pacific director, said the luxury car manufacturer chose Vietnam because of its vast market potential.
He said that roughly 100 Rolls-Royces have been sold, in Vietnam, so far.
