HA NOI (VNS)- Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Minister of Defence, yesterday welcomed Scot Marciel, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State at the US Department of State’s Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs who is on a working visit to Viet Nam.
Vinh acknowledged the progress made in Viet Nam-US relations in recent years.
He noted that two countries had upgraded their ties to a comprehensive partnership, with defence co-operation now including personnel training and disaster response, as well as developments in humanitarian aid.
Marciel said that in the future, both sides should enhance their collaboration by exchanging information and high-ranking military delegations, and accelerating efforts to overcome the consequences of war. – VNS
