This restoration project will allow Vinh Phuc Province to preserve and restore the architectural structure of Cam Gia Communal House to counter the effects of severe degradation. The communal house, built in 1811, was listed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a “national level historical, cultural vestige” in the Decision No 460/QD-BT March 18, 1996. It has eight compartments, with a harem and an altar located in a private space reserved for the saints.

In Cam Gia communal house, there are many carved arrays typically present in the transitional period between architectural styles from late Le dynasty to Nguyen dynasty.

The Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) was established by the US Department of State in 2001 to help less developed countries preserve cultural heritage and to demonstrate US respect for other cultures. Since then, the AFCP has supported more than 800 cultural preservation projects in 120 countries worldwide, totaling US$ 46 million (including 13 projects in Vietnam).
