One more fatality caused from military helicopter crash

One more of the victims from the military helicopter accident which occurred in early July passed away on September 2, raising the incident’s death toll to 20.

According to a representatives of the National Institute of Burns in Hanoi, Lieutenant Nguyen Hoang Anh, 33, from Thai Binh Province died of kidney failure, respiratory burns and bone injuries caused by the accident.


After the helicopter crashed on July 7 in the outlying district of Thach That, Hanoi, Hoang Anh and four other soldiers were taken to the National Institute of Burns for treatment for their injuries.


Despite the efforts of the doctors, four soldiers, including Hoang Anh, were unable to be saved.


Now, only Dinh Van Duong, 32, in Ha Nam Province is still being provided with treatment from the National Institute of Burns. He suffers from burns over 53% of his body.


The accident occured when an MI-171 helicopter, with 21 military personnel on board, lost contact and came down only 16 minutes after it took off from Hoa Lac Airport in a western suburb of Hanoi on July 7. The helicopter was carrying out parachute exercises.
